This project explored the importance of caring for natural hair, appreciating African American hair, and educating others about its history and significance. Through research, I examined protective hairstyles, hair types, and the cultural roots of African American hairstyles, aiming to promote self-love and awareness.
This project is deeply personal because, like many others, I once believed that straight hair was the only standard of beauty. Through my research and conversations, I’ve learned to embrace and appreciate my natural hair as a meaningful part of my identity. I hope this project helps other girls feel confident in their hair and culture as well.
I wouldn’t change anything about this project—I feel that we executed it well and covered all the key aspects effectively.
I am most proud of completing the showcase efficiently while working well with my partner. More importantly, I am proud to have educated others about African American culture and the beauty of natural hair.
