Project Description

For my project, I researched:

  • How to take care of your hair
  • How to appreciate our natural hair
  • Educate others on African American Hair
  • The history behind African American hairstyles

Content: The top 3 things I learned from this showcase were:

– The importance of protective hairstyles
– The importance of knowing your hair type
– How to take better care of your hair

Culture: This project relates or connects to my family, background, peers, community or my own personal interests in these ways:

I really hope that other girls will learn to love their hair. When I was younger I thought that my hair had to be straight to be pretty. After researching, doing this project, and talking to people I have learned that my natural hair is part of who I am.

Metacognition: In reflection, one thing that I would have done differently during my journey with this showcase is:

I really wouldn’t change anything about our project. I felt that we did well in all parts.

Social/Emotional: One thing I am most proud of by completing this showcase is:

I’m proud of getting the showcase done in a good matter of time and working with my partner with no problems.

I am glad I can educate other people more about African American culture.
