My project is about my dream to become a fighter pilot in the Navy. I discuss the schooling and the steps you have to take to get into the Navy and I talk about the statistics and how many women are in the Navy.
My inspiration to become a fighter pilot and to be in the military comes from my family being in the Military. My grandpa was an Aviation’s Structural Mechanics- hydraulics, and my great grandpa was an officer or captain part of the U.S.S. Essex. My aunt is being deployed into the Airforce in December to become a fusion analyst. Being in the Military and relying on so many people to see if you could get your job done and having people rely on you would mean so much to me. Our country relies on the military and being a part of that would mean so much to me.
I would want to actually talk to a recruiter about all of the things you have to process through and which steps are best to take. I would also want to talk to a naval fighter pilot to hear his or her input on what he or she does during a typical day, what kind of major did they choose to do in college, what it is like to be a fighter pilot, and to see which jet they like best.
I thought that there weren’t many female Navy pilots but it turns out there are 7% women who pilot. I discovered all of the schooling and steps I have to do and how long schooling in the Navy is. When you are out of college you are considered an officer after you do a little bit of schooling. I would also have to do a six-week course and then a 4-week course on how to fly the jets and which ones I would fly. I am happy how many people support me on my journey to become a fighter pilot in the Navy.
