Project Description

In my showcase, I shared my Butler Tech journey, explaining why I chose to attend, my interest in pursuing Auto Tech for my lab next year, and my future career plans after graduation. As part of my presentation, I also displayed a vehicle component to help others learn more about automotive technology.

Content: The top 3 things I learned from this showcase were:

  • I am improving my public speaking skills—while I was still a little nervous, I was much more confident than during my first presentation.
  • I can inspire others to break job stereotypes and pursue their passions, no matter the field.
  • It’s okay to take my time while presenting; there’s no need to rush because people are genuinely interested in what I have to say.

Culture: This project relates or connects to my family, background, peers, community or my own personal interests in these ways:

This showcase connects to my personal interests because I am passionate about fixing vehicles, and my family and friends fully support my goals. I also hope to inspire other girls who are interested in auto mechanics to follow their dreams without fear or hesitation.

Metacognition: In reflection, one thing that I would have done differently during my journey with this showcase is:

Looking back, I would have taken more time between slides to collect my thoughts and breathe, allowing me to present more clearly. Speaking at a slower pace would have also helped me feel more in control and less rushed during my presentation.

Social/Emotional: One thing I am most proud of by completing this showcase is:

I am most proud of my personal growth in public speaking. At the start of the school year, I wouldn’t have been able to confidently present in front of a group, but now I feel much more comfortable. Learning to manage my stress and gaining confidence has been a major achievement, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come!
