My project describes the general similarities in design, function, and founding of the prison industrial complex when compared to the American educational system.
The top three things I learned from this showcase are the ability to distinguish between similar sources, cross referencing, and time management skills.
This project relates to me as a criminal justice student. Because prisons are related to my career field, I noticed some similarities in the building designs and functionality. I also have a personal interest in architecture which added to my interest in this topic.
In reflection, one thing that I would have done differently during my journey with this showcase is go more in depth with the shared history of these two institutions and even change my topic all together because not many people find this topic interesting.
Social/Emotional: Once thing I am most proud of by completing this showcase is the ability to self-identify flaws within my work and rework the project accordingly. After doing this research, I would like to consider making changes to prison designs as part of my career in the future to create a better environment for prisoners.
Students and administrators at Butler Tech can submit their projects to us for inclusion on the website. Please only submit projects with appropriate content and that are clearly documented with instructions and outlines, including photos and other references to help readers.
