Project Description

We served special needs adults by giving them Salon Services.
Our goal was to build their confidence and self-esteem.
We were able to practice many different salon services with them.

Showcase Video

Content: The top 3 things I learned from this showcase were:

Special needs people are just people.
It feels good to serve people who are different than you.
Special needs people care very much about their appearance.

Culture: This project relates or connects to my family, background, peers, community or my own personal interests in these ways:

Sierra relates to this culture because she has people with disabilities in her family that make it natural for her to interact with people with disabilities. Hope, Hannah, and Daija appreciated the opportunity to experience interaction with special needs clients because it helped them to develop empathy in the process.

Metacognition: In reflection, one thing that I would have done differently during my journey with this showcase is:

We would have taken the time to educate ourselves more so that we could be prepared for what to expect in serving this population.

Social/Emotional: One thing I am most proud of by completing this showcase is:

We are proud that our skills were able to bring joy and confidence to others. They were all smiles and it really built up their confidence and made them happy.
