Project Resources

Project Description

My goal is to bring together members of the Natural Science Center to help the community.  We will use the resources of the school community to broaden student ideas and passions.  Students will create problem solving abilities through volunteering.

Content: The top 3 things I learned from this showcase were:

  • I hope to learn how to improve communication between students, educators, programs, and the community at large.
  • I want to learn how to  uses the thoughts and passions of students to better the community through collective action.
  • I want to teach students how to effectively plan and manage responsibilities through volunteerism.

Culture: This project relates or connects to my family, background, peers, community or my own personal interests in these ways:

To me, this project will help bring us together creating friends as well as helping the community by volunteering  for organizations that are important to us.  Personally, I would love to help make the world a better place proving that the youth can be mature and can make a difference.

Metacognition: In reflection, one thing that I would have done differently during my journey with this showcase is:

I have gained a great deal of experience working with the Hamilton Community Foundation’s YPC.  During this time, we have devoted a great deal of time working to allocate donated money to good causes.  That is good work but I want to stress the volunteerism and the use of collective ideas to build a plan for/with the community.  I want to make sure it is sustainable and long lasting so that it endures long after I graduate.

Social/Emotional: One thing I am most proud of by completing this showcase is:

The thing that I am most proud of is taking what I have learned and working to creating an organization at the Natural Science Center Campus that will work with students and the community.  This will provide an opportunity to be an eye opening experience for each student and the ones they serve.
