Project Description

  • We looked at the causes of human trafficking
  • We also analyzed the different mindsets of traffickers and their victims
  • We also targeted the various myths and facts tied to human trafficking

Content: The top 3 things I learned from this showcase were:

  • Trafficking is a major issue
  • Cincinnati is a major city when it comes to trafficking because of all the highways
  • We have also gotten better at noticing red flags

Culture: This project relates or connects to my family, background, peers, community or my own personal interests in these ways:

We did not believe that we would be victims of human trafficking, but as we conducted our research we realized that it was more likely than we thought. It became apparent that this is much more common than previously understood and we see now that this is a major problem in our society.

Metacognition: In reflection, one thing that I would have done differently during my journey with this showcase is:

Before the first showcase, we were very eager to get started. Towards the last few days before this showcase, we realized we had learned so much about human trafficking and now are extremely aware of our surroundings.
For example, we experienced a creepy due at a gas station. He approached us, and asked if we were twins then told us we were pretty. Both of us were scared and did not leave each other alone until we left. We even think that he tried to follow us.

Social/Emotional: One thing I am most proud of by completing this showcase is:

We are both more aware of our surroundings now. When we see strangers in public we don’t initially trust their intentions. So we have become more careful when we are by ourselves. If we don’t feel safe we call attention to ourselves, and try to find a safe place.
