Project Description

We studied the mindset of human traffickers and their victims.
We also looked into how common human trafficking is locally.
The other thing we looked at are the myths, facts, and red flags pertaining to human trafficking.

Content: The top 3 things I learned from this showcase were:

  • Cincinnati is a major hub for human trafficking because of the highways.
  • We learned some major trafficking red flags.
  • We recognized that a person’s background can increase the chance a person becomes a victim.

Culture: This project relates or connects to my family, background, peers, community or my own personal interests in these ways:

At first, we did not expect that human trafficking would be so common, but we learned that this impacts our communities every day. The fact that we were just as likely to be victims was startling and helped us educate our family and friends as well as ourselves.

Metacognition: In reflection, one thing that I would have done differently during my journey with this showcase is:

Looking back on our presentation, we would learn how to manage our time better, communicate, and delegate tasks.
As we started this project, we were very eager to learn about human trafficking. Putting this presentation together, we realized we had learned so much about human trafficking and are now extremely aware of our surroundings.

Social/Emotional: One thing I am most proud of by completing this showcase is:

During our research on this project, the emotions hit hard when we presented our showcase last year because we were aware of the signs of human trafficking.  This year, the continued research started to get hard to read.
