Project Description

My project is about not knowing how to work on cars or anything about them and, starting to learn all kinds of things about cars from my program Auto Tech. I was always interested in cars but never had anyone to teach me. Through this program I have been able to learn so many new things. I realized at 13 when my grandfather died from a car falling on him how necessary safety is while working on cars.

Content: The top 3 things I learned from this showcase were:

– I am not good at talking in front of people. Talking in social settings or large groups have never been my forte.
-I learned that I need to get better at talking in front of people so I can get better at getting my point across.
– I also learned that practicing what I’m going to say before I say it would be a great help.

Culture: This project relates or connects to my family, background, peers, community or my own personal interests in these ways:

My grandpa when I was thirteen died while doing an oil change. He was under the car when the jack stands fell over and the car fell on top of him. This affected me in the way I work it has made me worry about safety more than most people.

Metacognition: In reflection, one thing that I would have done differently during my journey with this showcase is:

I would have talked about my story more and how being in this program has affected me.

Social/Emotional: One thing I am most proud of by completing this showcase is:

I am proud I showed up. Presentations give really bad anxiety and I wanted to not do it at all but I pushed through and I did.
