Project Description

We explored the different tools used in the Construction industry. Throughout the school year, we learned how to use each tools correctly and safely.

Content: The top 3 things I learned from this showcase were:

We learned that we prefer to present another showcase assignment. However, both of us are still interested in a career in the construction field. We learned that the most important tool of the trade is the human brain.

Culture: This project relates or connects to my family, background, peers, community or my own personal interests in these ways:

Nate:
I grew up in a family that valued money. Everyone saves money. The only way that they would spend money is if it is worth it. That’s where tools came in. They always told me you get what you pay for. My parents always said that. They still say it to anything that I buy. I will only spend the money if it is worth it. You don’t want a tool breaking after the second time using it. That would be a lot of money that you are wasting. And I even tell my peers that you have to spend money wise. You don’t want to spend money on something that will break.

Caleb:

I was raised to treat other the way I wanted to be treated with respect and kindness. I understand how people feel when they get disrespted and they don’t like it at all. I have developed over time with respecting people over the time.

Metacognition: In reflection, one thing that I would have done differently during my journey with this showcase is:

Nate:
There was a time that I cut in the middle of the sawhorses. The saw sprang back and jerked and scared the life out of me. When you cut in the middle of the sawhorse it locks up and jerks.

Caleb:

There was a time where I failed to measure 16 o.c. It messed up everything. But then I actually did 15 ¼ and I learned that. Then I took what I learned and implied it to everyday building. This is one of the most important things to learn in construction

Social/Emotional: One thing I am most proud of by completing this showcase is:

Nate:
While looking back on the tools, the hardest part was keeping them steady. I have shaky hands and keeping the tools straight was hard for me. What I learned is that I should take my time and cut. Cutting is the biggest part and I have to slow down for it. That is one of my biggest challenges. I have to slow down.

Caleb:

I enjoy having fun with the people I am around while here at butler tech and I understand the we all don’t have the same option on everything. We all are going too disagree about some thing but I think construction is like a building block because its fun and help build friendships while working.
