As part of his stats year end research project, he wanted to research which trait future and current healthcare professionals as well as those not working in the medical field feel is most important for a healthcare professional. His hypothesis would be that it would be being a compassionate person and through research he confirmed this.
I learned the characteristic that most people are seeking in a healthcare worker. This directly impacts me with my future work in healthcare because I could investigate characteristics that are more important for employability.
Both of my parents were medics in the Air Force and I was with them in the hospital for a majority of my childhood, as a result grew to love the profession. Upon both my parents retiring from the Air Force, my father went to earn his bachelors in nursing and is currently serving as a Cath Lab nurse.
One thing I would of done differently during my journey is by finding some negative things about my past that involve healthcare and investigate how it will affect me. (teacher note here – he did add this in his final showcase presentation video)
I feel like that by completing this I get to prove to the people that say “Guys should not be involved in healthcare unless their a Doctor,” or “Males should not be nurses.” Nursing is an incredible profession regardless of ones gender; as long as you do something you love it never matters.
