Project Description

My project brings awareness to how health triggers or stressors greatly impact our mental and physical health. Not only how it’s important to recognize when it’s affected but signs of when it’s greatly impacted as well. Finally, my partner and I give tips as to how to support others with acts of kindness and how to be kind to ourselves as well. Mental health illness is no joke.

Content: The top 3 things I learned from this showcase were:

The top 3 things I learned from my showcase is it’s more common than I originally thought it was, there are no physical signs as to what it looks like (it’s an internal struggle) and there are many things we can do, big and small, to improve it.

Culture: This project relates or connects to my family, background, peers, community or my own personal interests in these ways:

This project relates to my family and peers because my brother has struggled with mental health all of his life, as well as my mom. I’ve seen how it severely impacts them, as well as my peers around me too. It’s no joke and I think it’s important to break the stigma and take it seriously.

Metacognition: In reflection, one thing that I would have done differently during my journey with this showcase is:

One thing I would have done differently during my showcase journey is I would’ve gotten more stories from those who have struggled with mental health and if/how they’ve overcame it. I would have asked them as well if there was any advice they’d like to give or what they wish they told their younger self when they were struggling.

Social/Emotional: One thing I am most proud of by completing this showcase is:

One thing I am most proud of by completing this showcase is the awareness I can bring to it alone. It’s important that we show everyone it’s ok that there is struggle. It’s ok that we’re not always happy. We can’t control that but it’s important of how we deal with it from now on. That’s really what this showcase is all about and I’m proud of the benefit it’s brought to my friend and I.
