This project involved developing and administering a bandsaw safety test. I detailed the process of creating the assessment, administering it, and evaluating its impact. The test enhances overall lab safety and ensures that users understand proper procedures before operating the equipment.
The top three things I learned from this experience:
How to effectively design and teach a safety test.
That public speaking is not my strength—I prefer hands-on work and applying knowledge rather than teaching it.
The importance of structured assessments in maintaining a safe and efficient workspace.
This project primarily relates to my peers, as they were the ones required to take the test. While its relevance is limited outside of the lab, it played a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety and responsibility within our learning environment.
Looking back, one thing I would have done differently is spending more time learning about the bandsaw’s mechanics and features while I had the opportunity. A deeper understanding would have strengthened my ability to teach and administer the test effectively.
Above all, I am proud that I successfully navigated this experience, gained valuable insights, and contributed to a safer lab environment.
