Project Description

Students performed makeovers on women in addiction recovery from Juliette’s Hope.
The ladies from Juliette’s Hope shared stories of their lives in addiction and recovery.
Juliette’s Hope stories were played and then, they walked the red carpet with their new looks and renewed confidence.
Butler Tech Cosmetology students presented their reaction to being a part of this showcase via Flipgrid.

Content: The top 3 things I learned from this showcase were:

Students learned the importance of serving and supporting others.
Students learned that addiction can happen to everyone.
Students learned that there is hope for people in addiction.

Culture: This project relates or connects to my family, background, peers, community or my own personal interests in these ways:

Some students could relate, having addicts in their families, others could not relate and have never experienced someone they love struggling with addiction.

Metacognition: In reflection, one thing that I would have done differently during my journey with this showcase is:

I wish there was a way for students to do their reactions after the showcase because when the showcase happens, they really realize the impact of the showcase and what they were a part of.

Social/Emotional: One thing I am most proud of by completing this showcase is:

My students responded so well to the ladies in recovery. I am so proud of the ladies working through their recovery as well.
