-Misogyny is the hatred of, aversion to, or prejudice against women
-Women experience misogyny in America almost daily if not daily, and the reason for this presentation is to attempt to change people and help start to educate people on this
-Many women of many ages shared their stories and feelings on the subject with me and I projected it to share with others and start a change
-I shared my personal experiences and stories around misogyny and even hidden/normalized misogyny in our daily community
I learned what I need to focus on to help those in my community overcome these challenges, I learned how common misogyny is in our daily lives and how we need to fight for change, and I learned how to talk about and important subject while taking criticism from different perspectives.
This project relates heavily to the community and society as a whole. Misogyny is such a heavy subject that involves everyone, regardless of who you are, it has hurt you in some way. It plays such a big role in our world whether at work, school, home, etc. it is stuck with us because people refuse to be educated. If we could educate people more, we could save a lot of people from hurting.
If I could go back and do it over I would want to send my survey out to more people. I had 60 responses in total but I would love to hear from more people about their experiences so I can try to focus on more and add more to present to people.
I’m most proud of how vulnerable I was and how I didn’t let criticism/backlash affect me. When sending out the showcase survey, I was met with a lot of small minded people who were unnecessarily rude all because they’re scared to grow. Was it frustrating? Absolutely, but I’m stronger than that and I will never shut up until we stop this toxic mindset and women get the equality that they deserve.
